Congratulations to all the students taking GCSE and A Levels this year. The results at both GCSE and A Level are superb and reflect the hard work and commitment of both students and teachers. Well done to them all!

This year the majority of subjects at GCSE have been graded 9-1 with only a few remaining at A*-G. The majority of subjects at A Level are now following their new courses.


KS4: 2018 GCSE Exam Results Summary

We are delighted with our GCSE attainment and progress this year. Pupils make above average progress from their starting points, compared with other schools nationally.

76% of our pupils achieved five good GCSE including English and Maths (using a grade 4 in English and Maths as equivalent to a ‘C’). English and Maths continue to produce superb results. In English Language, 81% of pupils achieved a ‘standard pass’ (grade 4) and 62% achieved a ‘strong pass’ (grade 5). In Maths, 87% of pupils achieved a ‘standard pass’ and 72% a ‘strong pass’. Overall, 81% of pupils achieved a ‘standard pass’ in both Maths and English and 62% achieved a ‘strong pass’ in both. Results were outstanding across a number of subjects including: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Drama, French and Food Preparation and Nutrition.

KS5: 2018 A Level Exam Results Summary and Destinations

A Level results this year are again impressive with 48.0% of entries graded at the top A*/A/B grades and the pass rate at 98.3%. In value-added terms, using the ALPS system, our overall performance placed us in the top 25% of all providers.

There were 170 students in our Year 13 cohort in 2017-18. 119 (70%) of these students have accepted places at university for 2018 or 2019 entry, 27 (16% of the cohort) of which are at Russell Group universities.
Particular congratulations go to Eleanor Thomas who achieved 2A*and 1A grades at A Level and takes up a place in dental surgery at Liverpool University.

The following students achieved 1A* and 2A grades: Melissa Butler; Joel Stewart; Adam Swan-Bell and Sam Walters. Melissa will study Politics and Economics at Newcastle University, Joel will study French at Leeds University, Adam will study Economics at Lancaster University and Sam will study Design Engineering at Imperial College, London.
The following students achieved 3A grades: Antonia Fagan, Alex Peters and Victor Yepez Melian.

Antonia will study Politics and International Relations at Nottingham University, Alex is taking a gap year as a Ripley Scholar before embarking on a degree in engineering and Victor will study Social Sciences at Durham University.
Four students have gained competitive engineering apprenticeships: Phil Shentall at EDF Energy and Robert Burbidge, Cameron Dent and Aadil Patel at BAe Systems.
